Fast AND Fancy! That's the way to go!

A long, long, time ago in a galaxy far, far, away Sandra Lee was a mere tot. June Roth was writing a cookbook about what we could do with a few tater tots, cans of green beans, a tablescape with the dishes arranged in a clock pattern. Sadly, there are not enough colorful images in this book but close your eyes tight and think of how the black and white images would look in color. Now pinch yourself because it was just your imagination.

June Roth's Fast AND Fancy Cookbook, 1969

Rice and green peppers and corn. The things you can do! Stuffed peppers used to seem like normal fare until I discovered they were just a green vessel to put stuff in. Fast AND Fancy.
Sometimes, there really can be too much of a good thing. In this case, it's canned green beans. However, this is Fast AND Fancy.
This could very well be the best idea of 1969. However since it is practically impossible to read, we will never know.

The goblet above weeps openly as it wonders how June Roth could have possibly gotten Tex Mex so wrong. Radishes and green corn plop. Fast but NOT Fancy.
Because S.O.S. is not a FANCY term, Cream Chipped Beef served with Chive Rice gives it an air of sophistication.
And now we are all connoisseurs of all things Fast AND Fancy. Sandra Lee, eat your Kwanzaa cake heart out.
